Fuel Filler XJS

Fuel Filler Pipe Modification

I went to a wrecking yard and got filler neck from a Ford car that had a screw on cap system. I then removed my filler neck on my xj-s and saw that the ford unit has a smaller mounting ring and did not mount at the same angle. I did find that the ford unit is smaller in diameter than the jag unit. When you shorten the ford unit be careful; do not damage the flapper in the neck. You have to cut the flange off of the Ford unit to fit inside of the Jag unit so that it can be mounted low enough so that the gas filler door will close properly. Remove the cap lock system from the jag unit, also the inside restrictor unit. When you have the unit put together make sure that you have the Ford unit mounted no higher than a ¼ of an inch, or the door will not close properly.
