A Jag-Lover's Taleby Merritt SmithMy 1959 Jaguar 3.4 litre (Mk 1) Saloon in front of the inlet to NASA's 80' by 120' wind tunnel. PrefaceThe pages which follow are the result of my eighteen month affiliation (3 November 1993 - 27 April 1995) with a 1959 Jaguar 3.4L (Mk 1) Saloon. It will become obvious that I am not a professional mechanic, but an engineer. As such, many of the activities described would be frowned upon by real automotive professionals, the rest are probably downright unsafe. This is the story of my attempt at leaving something in better shape than when I found it. I believe I succeeded, and no one was killed in the process. Enjoy. Author's note: Images, side commentary, and technical information are included in the text through hyperlinks. I deliberately built the pages this way so that the AOL/14.4 modem crowd could download them in a reasonable time too.
Commentary and criticism should be directed to Merritt Smith |
